Update on Dorothea Terrace

June 2024

Dear Friends and Neighbors of Preserve Wild Poway,

You might have noticed bright orange “lot” flags near the top of Van Dam Peak. You can see one flag from Pomerado Road, as you head north towards Poway Road. The flags show the boundary lines for ten acres on Dorothea Terrace. This parcel was for sale. It is now pending. The building plans show a new house on top of the arroyo, surrounded by the Meadowbrook Ecological Preserve. If the sale goes through, two acres of endangered habitat will be destroyed.

Preserve Wild Poway worked to save this property, as it is in the Priority Resource Protection Area, surrounded on three sides by the Biological Core Linkage Area and will have a harmful impact on wildlife. This project will decrease the preserve’s size and cause edge effects, which are harmful to wildlife.

Preserve Wild Poway was formed in response to the continued destruction of natural open spaces. Our goal is to preserve native habitat and educate residents about the importance of preserving habitat land and wildlife corridors.

Together, let’s Preserve Wild Poway!
