Boulder Mountain- Poway is fortunate to have a beautiful mountain in the very center of the city, Twin Peaks. Twin Peaks is an isolated habitat, completely surrounded by roads and homes. Boulder Mountain, on the northside of Twin Peaks Mountain, has a unique ecosystem which supports a localized and diverse community of living organisms. Unfortunately, Boulder Mountain is now in critical need of preservation. Preserve Wild Poway is working with other organizations, landowner Lyle Arnold, and residents to acquire this high value habitat. We need participation, support and funds to protect this mountain habitat. Let us know if you would like to help!
New Book- Preserve Wild Poway is excited to share with you a new children’s book, Toby, The Spadefoot of Meadowbrook Pond. This delightful book by a local illustrator and Preserve Wild Poway volunteer, Jessie Boeller, details the Western Spadefoot Toads’ life cycle and the importance of preserving Poway’s rare Meadowbrook Pond. Children will also learn what happens to the Spadefoot when the pond is dry. Help make a difference in preserving rare species by making a $50 donation online and receive this fun book.
Winners- On August 31, winners were drawn for two $100 Target Gift Cards. Congratulations goes to Carly Gaither and Galena Robertson! A special thank you to our local Target store for their support for local wildlife!
