South Poway (Trans County) Trail

February 11

8:45 AM

South Poway Trail

About the Hike:

We explore the undeveloped areas of southern Poway just north of the business park that runs along Stowe Drive.  The hike is about 4 miles total and includes a 1 ½ mile loop on the west side of Community Road.  We then pass through a tunnel that crosses Community Road, and then head east for a mile on South Poway Trail before heading back.  The trail is well maintained and there are significant elevation changes as we travel from hilltops to valleys several times.  This hike provides excellent views of mid/south Poway.  There is very little shade.

Where to Park and Where to Meet:

Park at the South Poway Staging Area.  To get there, take Community Road to Metate Lane.  Go 0.3 miles west on Metate Lane and you will see the sign on the left for the “South Poway Staging Area”.  Drive about 300 feet to the parking area. We will meet at the parking lot and head out at 8:45 am.  See map below.
