Beeler Canyon Trail

June 9

8:45 AM

Meet at the Beeler Canyon Trail Parking area

About the Hike:

Beeler Creek Trail runs along the southern boundary of Poway, and as the name suggests, runs along Beeler Creek. This trail is 5 miles round trip. The trail is mostly exposed, not very steep for the first 1 ½ miles, and has a nice view of South East Poway and Sycamore Canyon. This trail appears to have significant mountain bike traffic, and there is evidence that horses use the trail as well.

Directions:

Take Pomerado Road and make a left onto Creek Road (just 500 feet south of Scripps Poway Parkway). In ½ mile make a gradual turn to the left onto Beeler Canyon Road. Take Beeler Canon Road for 2.1 miles. As you approach the gated part of the road, you will see a dirt parking area on the left side of the road. Park there. The trailhead is a bit further down the road past the gate. You can type 14010 Beeler Canyon Road into your map program and it will get you close to the parking area. However, the MS Bing map may route you through Kirkham Way which does not work due to construction, so make sure your map program starts from Pomerado Road / Creek Road to get to Beeler Creek Road.

Gated road before the trailhead.

 Weather:

High of around 80, mostly sunny, so bring plenty of water.

Restrooms:

There are no restrooms. The closest facilities would be at the Starbucks at Pomerado Road and Scripps Poway Parkway.

  • We’ll take our group picture around 9 am and start our hike.

  • If you arrive late, you’ll possibly have no problem catching up with some of us.

  • As always, you can choose to go as far as you feel comfortable or have time for.

  • No need to reply, just show up (and bring anyone you want).

  • Don’t forget water. And some of you might also want to bring sunscreen, hat, snack, camera, binoculars, GPS or walking stick.

  • Voluntary trash pickup: bring your own trash bag, gloves, mechanical pick-up stick, etc.
